Lady Eagles notch first district win vs. Gonzales

The Pleasanton Lady Eagles took their first step to securing a playoff spot with their first win in District 27-4A.

On Tuesday, Oct. 6, the Lady Eagles swept Gonzales (25-19, 25-21, 25-19) to stay in the thick of the playoff race.

The win kept Pleasanton (14-8, 1-4 entering Tuesday night) just a half-game behind fourth-place Gonzales at the end of the first round of district play.

Sadie McAda’s 14 kills and 14 digs helped spur along the Lady Eagles Tuesday night. McAda and Brianna Garcia each had six kills each Tuesday night.

Victoria Urbanczyk posted 12 kills for the Lady Eagles. Junior setter Tess Underbrink had 24 assists in the win.

Pleasanton then hosted Cuero on Friday, Oct. 9.

The Lady Eagles fell in five sets (25-21, 25-15, 24- 26, 26-28, 11-15).

The Lady Eagles traveled to La Vernia on Tuesday night and travel to Navarro on Friday, Oct. 16.
