The Pleasanton Lady Eagles were able to lock up the third seed for District 30-4A on Friday with a four-set win over Cuero (25-27, 25-17, 27-25, 25-21) in a seeding match to settle the tie between the two.

“We played with a lot of heart and determination tonight,” head coach Gabriel Aguirre said. “Every game came down to the wire and the girls kept fighting to the end and came up with a big win.”

Freshman Sadie McAda stepped up big with a double-double after tallying a team-high 21 kills and 18 digs. Fellow freshman Victoria Urbanczyk had nine kills to her name.

Urbanczyk and Tess Underbrink posted double-figure assists with the freshman Urbanczyk recording 19 and Underbrink posting 14.

Underbrink and McAda each had an ace as well.

Angel Tucker and Brianna Garcia got the defensive job done at the net for the Lady Eagles. Tucker had a team-high five blocks and Garcia tallied four.

The Lady Eagles now await the loser of the Devine-Hondo seeding match, which is being played on Saturday. Pleasanton and the loser of that match will meet in the bi-district round of the playoffs on Tuesday.
