Lady Eagles cruise in district opener


The Pleasanton volleyball team had little trouble taking care of Beeville in their district opener.

The Lady Eagles went on the road and defeated the Lady Trojans 25-15, 25-10, 25-6 to start District 30-4A competition on the right foot.

“[It was] probably the best we have played all year long,” Pleasanton coach Gabriel Aguirre said. “It was a strong game, start to finish.”

Senior Courtney Ridge led the Lady Eagles with 11 kills, and Laken McAda added eight.

Kaycie Shannon had a team-high 13 digs and also seven kills.

Amber Guerra racked up 12 assists and 10 digs for Pleasanton. Maggie Cleary chipped in with 11 assists and 10 digs.

Senior Janessa Ximenez had five blocks, and Shannon added four.

The win put the Lady Eagles at 21-9 on the year.

Pleasanton had an open date Tuesday and will face Poteet on the road Friday.
