Lady Eagles claim district cross country crown

For the second year in a row, the Pleasanton Lady Eagles are cross country district champions.

The Lady Eagles took to the course at Starke Park and brought home three top-10 finishes to edge out Gonzales by five points.

Caitlyn Nieschwitz was the top finisher for Pleasanton, crossing the finish line in second place with a time of 12:50. Kassidy Vickers wasn’t far behind in third place with a time of 12:56.

Kara Hinojosa rounded out Pleasanton’s top-10 finishers with a time of 13:23 that was good for seventh place.

Kennedy Guajardo (11th, 13:40), Mary Martinez (14th, 13:46) and Fe Vielma (15th, 13:47) were also top-15 finishers for the Lady Eagles. Lindsey Klein finished 19th with a time of 14:15.

With the district championship, the Lady Eagles qualify as a team for regionals on Nov. 10.

Pleasanton Eagle runner Wanish Tortes-McGinnis was the lone runner to qualify for regionals for the Eagles. Tortes-McGinnis finished 10th with a time of 19:28 to qualify.

Xavier Rodriguez finished in 15th place with a time of 20:05. Jayden Ogg (23:35.3) and Zander Zamora (23:35.5) finished 24th and 25th respectively for the Eagles.
