The Pleasanton softball team swept the season series with Poteet.
The Lady Eagles blanked the Lady Aggies 7-0 on Friday to clinch a playoff spot. Pleasanton (12-10 overall) improved to 3-3 in District 30-4A with the win.
Poteet (9-8) dropped to 1-6 and will face Somerset in its regular-season finale April 17 with a postseason berth on the line.
Madison McDonald earned the win for the Lady Eagles, allowing four hits in the shutout.
Pleasanton built a 3-0 lead before widening the margin in the sixth. The Lady Eagles tacked on four insurance runs for a comfortable lead.
Danica De La Fuente, Emily Zavala, Richelle Gutierrez and Marina Herrera had the only hits for Poteet.
Pleasanton totaled 16 hits, including four apiece by Chloe Bryant and Laney Esquivel, who both hit 1.000 for the game. Bryant had four RBIs as each finished with two doubles.
McDonald went 3 for 4 at the plate.
The Lady Eagles travel to face Somerset on Friday. The Lady Bulldogs (0-6) fell to Pleasanton 10-6 on March 23 at the Eagle Complex.
The Lady Eagles have won consecutive games after an 11-1, six-inning victory over San Antonio St. Anthony on April 3.
Pleasanton finished with 14 hits and limited St. Anthony to four.
Bryant, Brenda Leal, Ilyssa Ramirez and Messiah San Miguel each had two hits for the Lady Eagles.
The Lady Aggies are on a three-game slide, losing 5-0 to top-ranked Beeville on April 3. Poteet managed one hit against the Lady Trojans, who are No. 1 in the latest Texas Girls Coaches Association poll.
Zavala took the loss, allowing five hits, including a three-run home run in the sixth inning.
