Lady Aggies earn bi-district win over Carrizo Springs

The Poteet volleyball team advanced to the area playoffs after picking up a sweep Monday.

The Lady Aggies made quick work of Carrizo Springs, winning 25-15, 25-16, 25-20 in their bi-district match at Uvalde High School.

Senior outside hitter Lea Sanchez led the way for Poteet with 12 kills. Classmate Natalie Lozano added seven kills for the Lady Aggies.

Setters Sydni Carrasco and Emily Zavala each contributed 11 assists.

Senior Hannah Dove had a team-high 26 digs and also added four aces.

Aurianna Villalta chipped in with three blocks on defense.

With the result, the Lady Aggies picked up their first postseason win under coach Sananda Molina.

Poteet, which is in the midst of its fourth consecutive trip to the playoffs, will continue its trek sometime this week.

The Lady Aggies, the No. 2 seed from District 30-4A, awaits the winner between Sinton and Rio Hondo.

The District 31-4A champion Lady Pirates faced Rio Hondo on Tuesday night at Kingsville. The results were not available at press time.

The area playoff match will be Thursday, Friday or Saturday at a site to be determined.
