The La Parita 4-H Club will host an Open House on Aug. 12, 6:30-8 p.m. at the Cowboy Fellowship Church in Jourdanton.
This event is open to anyone interested in learning more about 4-H and the multitude of opportunities offered.
Though there is the perception that it’s all about showing animals, the organization offers so much more. 4-H offers hands-on learning experiences to help develop in our youth positive characteristics including citizenship, leadership, responsibility and life skills.
The open house will include a question-and-answer session and club officers will present descriptions of various projects offered by 4-H.
Here are just some of the projects that young people can can participate in when becoming a member of 4-H: Livestock Projects, Shooting Projects, Record Books, Consumer Decision Making, Horse Judging, Livestock Judging, Photography, Ag Mechanics, Food Show, Fashion Design, Ag Product ID, Public Speaking and others.
The La Parita 4-H Club, in particular, is dedicated to being a valuable asset to its community and does so via the completion of multiple service projects throughout the year.
Monthly meetings are held on second Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. at Cowboy Fellowship, at 561 FM 3350, in Jourdanton.
