Sept. 1, 1971, marked the opening of Kinsel Ford Mercury, Inc. in Pleasanton. That summer, Bob and Nancy Kinsel moved their young family to their still present day home in Pleasanton. With the help of his parents, Bob, Sr. and Snookie, they acquired the then Ford tractor dealership located downtown, and gained Ford Motor Company’s approval for the Ford and Mercury automobile franchises.

Pleasanton had been, for many years, without a Ford auto dealership. The store has remained at its downtown location for it’s entirety, although minor and major renovations have occurred through time.

Bob and Nancy’s two sons, quite literally, grew up in the store. Both, Bobby and Brady, enjoyed and learned their family’s business first hand. After college, both returned to the dealerships in Pleasanton and Three Rivers, and have worked to continue the stores’ success and longevity.

Of course, 50 years in Pleasanton and 74 years in Three Rivers wouldn’t be possible without the efforts of all our employees, both past and present. We humbly thank them with all our hearts.

Ford Motor Company has recognized Kinsel Ford Pleasanton’s 50 Year milestone. Much has changed since 1971 when a fully equipped Ford pick up was about $2,500 … and, it’s been exciting to be part of all this progress. Ford has been a wonderful partner in our success, and we are honored to have them here to celebrate with us.

The Kinsel family stated they are grateful to Pleasanton, Atascosa County, and beyond for your support of us through the years. The community warmly welcomed our family as newcomers in 1971. We are proud to have served and grown with you.

Pleasanton is home, and we love it. Thank you.
