Who will reign as Queen and King over the 66th annual Poteet Strawberry Festival? Find out at the coronation this Saturday, March 9, at the Poteet High School Auditorium.
Doors will open at 7 p.m. and the coronation is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The ceremony will begin with the selection of the Little Miss and Mister Poteet. This will be followed by the introduction of this year’s candidates. The event will culminate with the crowning of the 2012 Queen and King, Prince and Princess and Dukes and Duchesses.
This year’s candidates include:
Lauren Zavala, Lindsay M. Ramon, Rebekah Wagner, Caitlin Crisp, Amber Nicole Rodriguez, Adam Ybarra, Cameron Uribe, C. Alejandro Garcia, Ray Rodriguez and Jake Hamm. Look for their biographies on Page 1B.
The Poteet Strawberry Festival, one of the largest and oldest celebrations in Texas, runs from April 12-14.
This year’s coronation theme will be Fiesta! Kimberly Crawford, co-host of KABB’s “Daytime @ Nine” entertainment show will serve as this year’s emcee.
Crawford, a native of Three Rivers, graduated from UT-Austin with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. She started her TV career in Corpus Christi as the weekday morning anchor. She came to KABB the first time around in 2004 as weekend anchor and weekday reporter, before being promoted as co-host of Fox News First. She left KABB in 2008.
She was most recently an on-air talent and feature reporter for the San Antonio Spurs. She had the honor of interviewing Spurs fans during live game broadcasts.
Before getting her start in TV news, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her love of acting. While there, she was cast as “Miss Maine” in the hit movie “Miss Congeniality.” She is also a former Miss Corpus Christi USA.
Crawford is married and has two precious children.
