Katherine Virginia Mc- Donald Favor was born Nov. 6, 1925, and passed into the loving arms of her Savior on Nov. 23, 2021, at age 96.
Katherine was born in Kingsbury in Guadalupe County and moved to Pleasanton in 1932. Katherine was married to her beloved husband Gene for 58 years.
She loved laughter and always said it was easier to be “happy than sad.” When asked if she had any advice to pass on to the younger generation, she replied, “Live one day at a time, but plan for the future. You have a choice of how you are going to the react to what life hands you. Please don’t choose lonely, sad or miserable. Stay busy, find things that make you happy and above all, make others happy!”
Katherine enjoyed a large range of activities: Her 50- year membership in the Order of the Eastern Star #133, her 35-year membership in the Pleasanton Woman’s Club, her membership in The Birthday Club, and The South Texas Regional Hospital Auxiliary and Senior Circle. She also served on the boards of the City Cemetery and was a member of the Longhorn Museum of Pleasanton.
Katherine loved to travel. Some of her most memorable trips were to Scotland, England, California and Kentucky. She was also an avid San Antonio Spurs fan and rarely missed a game!
Katherine is survived by her three sons, Jerald (Jerry) Favor of Pleasanton, Don (Bubba) Favor and wife Shirley of Pearsall, Robert (Bob) Favor and wife Diana of Pleasanton. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Cindy Fisher of San Antonio, Renise Watkins of Dallas, Dustin Favor and wife Tracy of Three Rivers, Brandy Lawhon and husband Eric of Pleasanton and Dennis Barrow and wife Heather of Houston. Her great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Fisher, Katherine Fisher, Edward Fisher, Bryce Favor, Conner Lawhon, Devin Lawhon, Lauren Barrow, Lillie Barrow, Connor Barrow, Elizabeth Watkins and William Watkins.
Katherine is preceded in death by her husband Gene; parents, William Spencer McDonald and Lola Lee Ross McDonald; sister, Lola Mae McDonald and brother William (Sonny) Murris McDonald.
Services for Katherine were Monday, Nov. 29 at Hurley Funeral Home, with a visitation from 9-11 a.m. and the funeral service starting at 11 a.m. Interment was at Pleasanton City Cemetery.
