Sgt. David Presley and his partner “Meister” were at the Jourdanton Police Department, as official partners, for the last time this past Monday August 3, as city staff, fellow officers, and the public gathered to recognize the 6 years of service that “Meister” has given to the citizens of Texas.

“Meister” is a German Shepard that weighs in at over 100 lbs and is certified as both a patrol dog and a narcotics detection dog. He started his career in Hamilton County, Texas where JPD Sgt. David Presley previously served as a Peace Officer and K9 handler. When Sgt. Presley joined the Jourdanton Police Department in 2012, Meister came with him, where he has served primarily as a Narcotics Detection K9.

During their tenure in Jourdanton, Sgt. Presley and Meister have also assisted the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office, Pleasanton Police Department and other area agencies when a K9 was needed to locate illegal contraband.

On Monday afternoon, Chief Kaiser presented “Meister” with a Certificate of Appreciation for his service in Jourdanton and the public was invited to stop by for cake and dog biscuits!

Jourdanton Police will continue their K9 program with “Leo”, a (Belgian Malinois) whose partner is JPD Cpl. Troy Walter.
