The Poteet JV Eagle Basketball team was able to grab district victories over Poteet and Cuero during their week of action. With the two lop-sided victories tabbed, the Eagles improve to 18-8 (7-3) as they prepare for their final games of the season.
Poteet-The Jv Eagles came out strong at home, against rival Poteet. Rudy Calderon and Zade Llamas were hot early on, combining for fourteen out of the twenty first quarter points. This allowed them to hold a 20-11 lead after a quarter of action.
In the second quarter, it was a defensive battle, as the Eagles edged the Aggies 8-6 allowing them to hold a 28-17 advantage at the half.
In the second half, Pleasanton exploded on both ends of the court, as they outscored Poteet 17-12 in the third and 12-5 in the fourth. This resulted in a lop-sided 57-26 victory over the visiting Aggies.
Scoring- Llamas 17, Calderon 14, Michael Brinkman 10, Felix Hernandez 6, Phillip Dillard 5, Walker Korus 3, and Zyrus Garza 2.
Cuero- The Eagles were at home again last Friday night, against the Gobblers.
Hernandez and Calderon led the team offensively during the 28-3A match-up. Hernandez was virtually unstoppable in the second half, as he scored 28-total points in the game.
The Eagles looked sharp offensively, as they scored in double digits each of the four quarters. Pleasanton stuffed the Turkeys, 66-37.

Final games- The Eagles will host the LaVernia JV Bears on Friday with a 5:00 p.m. game. On Tuesday, Feb. 14th the Eagles travel to Yoakum for their final game of the 2011-2012 season against the Bulldogs with a 5:00 p.m. district game slated.
