Juventino Rivera Sr. passed away on February 6, 2021, at the age of 75, in San Antonio. After a few years of struggling with medical conditions, he succumbed his life and transitioned into peaceful rest.
He was born to Ramon and Juanita Moreno Rivera on January 25, 1946, in Escobedo, Coahuila, Mexico. Coming to the United States, Juventino pursued his dreams to start a business in Texas with his then-wife, Juanita Rivera. Together, they had nine children, Blanca, Ruth, Janie, Juventino Jr. (J.R.), Jacqueline, Daniel, Jonathan, Jesse and Damaris.
As a child, Juventino developed an unparalleled work ethic. As a father, his perseverance and efforts in all he did set an exemplary standard for his children. He was a leader with an unassailable presence and charm and used these talents to grow his business in construction from the ground up when he came to the United States in the 1960s. He was also a gentle giant whose rough hands will never be forgotten by his children.
Juventino made many memories with his family and friends on the beaches of Texas and Mexico; barbecuing, hunting and fishing. He kept you rolling with laughter telling you a joke or playing a prank on you. A true friend with a giving heart, he supported so many during times of struggle.
A man who lived large, he leaves a substantial hole in the hearts of many. Sustained by a faith in God that they will see him again, his nine children, 26 grandchildren and three great-grand children, will remember him fondly. He is also survived by his three sisters, Maria Elizabeth Garcia, Gloria Hernandez, Martha Alicia Sifuentes; a brother, Samuel Rivera and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother, Everardo Rivera; and his parents, Ramon Rivera and Juanita Morena Rivera.
Juventino Rivera Sr. will be honored in a beach-side celebration of life with a short ash scattering ceremony at sunset.
