Juaquina De La Garza, 85, of Jourdanton, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, peacefully at her residence. She was born on February 9, 1936, in Atascosa County to Francisco and Maria Salinas.
Juaquina was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had a passion for plants and BINGO. She was a backyard chicken farmer and an amazing baker and holiday decorating extraordinaire.
She is preceded in death by her parents Francisco Salinas and Maria Cordova Oropeza; brothers Santiago and Frank Salinas; sisters Hermencia Sanchez and Mary Helen Gonzales; and great-grandson Caleb Ray Hinojos.
Juaquina is survived by her children Noemi Perez, Aaron (Rosa) De La Garza, Sally (Alfred) Huizar, Joel De La Garza, Rachael Alaniz, Delma De La Garza and Noe (Jamey) De La Garza; grandchildren Aracely Lara, Eduardo Perez, Lizet De La Garza, Robert De La Garza, Alexis De La Garza, Chelsea De La Garza, Les Lybrand, Jon Lybrand, Sara De La Garza, Roy Jimenez, Gina Galindo, Geneva Galindo, Anthony Mendez, Aaron De La Garza, John Boy De La Garza, Eden De La Garza, Warren De La Garza and Jacqueline De La Garza; great-grandchildren, Jaclyn Hinojos, Danica Hinojos, Jaden Lybrand, Triniti Martinez, Genesis De La Garza, Michael Garrison, Jenna Garrison, Lanessa Martinez, Jeremiah Martinez, Alayah Hart, Trystan Hilburn, Nenah Hilburn, Daymian Hilburn, Liam De La Garza and Roni De La Garza; great-great-grandbaby, Haili Hinojos; brothers David (Alice) Salinas and Jesse (Sylvia) Salinas and sister Helen Cordova.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jon Lybrand, John De La Garza, Sara De La Garza, Gina Galindo, Anthony Mendez, Aaron De La Garza, Steve Cordova and Alexis De La Garza.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 9 from 2-7 p.m. followed by the reciting of the rosary at 7 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10 at San Jose Cemetery in Jourdanton.
