Juan Cervantes Mejia, Jr. of Pleasanton passed away peacefully with family by his side on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the age of 84.

He was born in Atascosa County on March 26, 1930 to Juan and Isabel (Cervantes) Mejia.

Juan was a very lively man, who loved life and enjoyed dancing and being with his friends and family. He was dedicated to his truck driving career. He will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his sons, Charles Ray Mejia, Sr. and wife Gloria, Mario Arturo Mejia and wife Elizabeth both of Pleasanton and Juan Mejia III and wife Erica of Dallas; daughter, Meya Mejia of Dallas; brother Gilbert Mejia and wife Maria; sisters, Carmen, Maria, Rosanna, Rebecca, Mary Helen and husband Domingo and Margaret and husband Rudy. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Isabel Mejia; sons, Johnnie Ray Mejia, Sr. and Michael Mejia, Sr.; daughter, Ysabel De La O; brothers, Joe, Rudy and Raymond Mejia and sister, Angelita.

Visitation was on Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 2 – 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton. A funeral Mass was held on Monday, March 31, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Pleasanton. Interment followed at San Ysidro Cemetery.
