Juan Delgado Lopez of Christine went to be with the good Lord on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at the age of 70. He was born on Tuesday, February 8, 1949 to Santiago and Antonia (Delgado) Lopez.
Juan worked at a golf course in San Antonio for 22 years. He enjoyed playing golf while at work and at home and being outdoors watering his plants. Especially plying golf with his grandchildren until his sickness no longer let him. Most of all, he loved his family and always made sure his family was happy and had what they needed. He always put everyone first before himself. Juan was a real family man.
He loved watching movies, especially westerns. Juan will be missed by all who knew him. He was a great husband, dad, grandpa, uncle, brother, son, brotherin law, cousin and friend.
Juan is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Joanne Lopez of Christine; daughter, Rachel Gonzales and husband Rudy of Christine; grandchildren, Zechariah and Erica of Christine; his greatest joy, grandson, Zefrin Mason Jay of Christine; niece that he considered like a daughter, Lisa Loza of San Antonio; and goddaughter, Mercedes Adrianna Blanco of Tilden. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Micela Garcia, Ignacio Lopez, Liz Gomez and husband Juan Manuel, Joe Lopez and wife Lupe, Rachel Bautista and husband Pete, Rosie Anderson and husband Pierre, Rocky Lopez and wife Lisa all of Christine, Christina Garcia and husband Noel, and Christina Volger from Pleasanton; sister-in-law, Esdel Lopez, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Juan was preceded in death by his parents, Santiago and Antonia (Delgado) Lopez; brother, Vidal Lopez; brother-in-law, Paul Garcia, and nephew, Juan Gomez Jr.
Visitation was held at Hur- ley Funeral Home, 118 W. Oaklawn Road in Pleasanton from 2-9 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, November 5. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, corner of F Street and 10th Street in Christine at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 6. Interment will follow in Bautista Cemetery, off Avenue L in Christine.
Serving as pallbearers for Juan’s service will be: John Loza, Jerome Hernandez, Chuck Breazeale, Alvaro Blanco, Xavier Garcia, Fidel Loza, Loui Reyes, Michael Lopez and Ponce Garcia. Honorary pallbearers will be, Mercedes and Marissa Blanco, Zack Loza, Zefrin Gonzales, Izaya Pena and Christian De La Rosa.
