Juan Jose Joseph Davila, Jr. passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of November 5, 2016 of natural causes.
He was born June 16, 1950 in Chicago Heights, Illinois where he spent his childhood. In September 1978, he married Delores Sanchez in Cotulla, and on June 6, 1980 his only child was born, Gabriel Joe Davila. To those who knew him he was called Mr. D. and when he was around you always had someone to laugh and have a beer with, but most importantly the name he prided himself on was Grandpa Joe, because he loved his grandbabies more than anything else. All the children around called him Grandpa Joe and he took them all under his wing. His grandchildren were the joy of his life, the legacy of Grandpa Joes kind spirit, passion for family and love of laughter will live on through them.
He is survived by his son, Gabriel Joe Davila and wife, Janna; grandchildren, Katelynn Cheyenne Peoples, Zachary Rene Davila, Angeline Marie Davila, Gabriel Felipe Davila, Raedon Kayne Davila and Luna Cecelia Davila; stepdaughter, Samantha Gutierrez and husband Ismael; children, Larry James Swinney (great grandchildren, Roman, Ivy and Draven Swinney), Jonathan Ray Amberson, Christopher Joe Gutierrez and Randy Paul Gutierrez; sisters, Cleotilde Davila, Jessie Davila, Angelita Middleton and husband Curtis, Rosa Pereda and husband Francisco, Josefa Davila, Mary Lou Conway and husband Lance and Angelica (Steven) Czajkowski and brother, Juan Antonio Davila. Joe is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Juan Jose and Magdalena Davila; sister, Juanita Galaviz and brother, Frank Davila.
