Jourdanton’s McDonald makes state meet

Jourdanton’s Garrett McDonald put together a second place performance in the regional powerlifting meet at Bishop on March 7 earned him a spot in the state meet, which will be on March 23 in Abilene.

McDonald had a total lift of 1,275 pounds, recording personal records on the deadlift and squat.

Taylor Weber placed seventh in his class with a total lift of 1,170 pounds. He had a personal record on the squat and nearly pulled one off on the deadlift, but was unable to lock out his final attempt. If he were able to complete the lift, it would have put him in the state meet as well.

Dedrick Querner placed eighth in his class with a total of 1,005 pounds, with personal records on the squat, deadlift and bench press.

“All three boys competed with class, pride and heart and I could not be more proud of them,” said Jourdanton coach James Martin.
