Jourdanton Subvarsity football roundup




The Jourdanton JV Indians fell to Corpus Christi Flour Bluff 36-19 for their first loss of the season last week on the road.

“The coaches are proud of all the players and their hard work and dedication,” Jourdanton coach Paul Kirby said.

Notable players on offense were: Tyler Pearson, Phillip Guerra and Jemareon Moore.

Defensive standouts were: Miguel Galindo, Clayton Foulds and Dominic Sizemore.

The Indians dropped to 3-1 overall and prepare for Central Catholic this week.

Kickoff is set for Thursday 6 p.m. at Indian Stadium.

8th Grade Indians

The Jourdanton 8th grade Indians tied with San Antonio Cole 14-14 last week at home.

Jourdanton scored a safety on the opening kickoff to lead 2-0 early.

The Tribe punched it into the end zone when Raylen Williams found Cort Hindes for a 3-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter.

Cole responded with two touchdowns to lead 14-8 at the half.

In the fourth quarter, Williams pitched the ball to George Ortiz who then launched a 25-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Bailey.

Jourdanton failed on its two-point conversion to leave the game tied at 14 apiece.

The Indians will travel to face Somerset Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

7th Grade Indians

The Jourdanton 7th grade Indians defeated San Antonio Cole 44-7 at home last week.

Jourdanton was led by Peyton Gonzales in rushing after the Indian scored five touchdowns in the win.

Bret Berg and Joshua Issac also were contributing factors on offense for the Tribe.

The Jourdanton offensive line was led by guards Peyton Phillips and Jack Fournier.

Defensively, Ty Smoot led with tackles while Joe Kortis had two sacks.

The Indians will play Somerset on the road Thursday at 5 p.m.
