Jourdanton Police Department arrested a U.S. citizen, Cassandra Santa Cruz of Laredo, who was found to be transporting undocumented immigrants while driving without a license or insurance.

The officers observed that the undocumented immigrants might be dehydrated and provided them with water, then summoned EMS to assess one of the individuals.

Border Patrol made location to take custody of and process those who were not American citizens.

The driver was charged by Jourdanton Police with Smuggling of Persons, a 3rd degree felony. She was transported to the Atascosa County Jail and remanded to their custody.

On June 2, Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office pursued a truck stolen out of San Antonio and detained four undocumented immigrants. Ten to 12 others in the truck bailed out during the end of the chase and escaped. One individual was locked in a compartment that had holes cut out for air.

The men ran off into the South Texas brush, west of Charlotte. ACSO Sheriff David Soward issued a message warning residents in the area of CR 349 and 352 intersections, west of Charlotte, to call the ACSO at 830-769-3434 if they saw the suspects.
