Jourdanton defeated by Lyford in bi-district

Lyford defeated Jourdanton, 42-25, in a bi-district game, Friday, November 11, at Calallen Stadium.

Scoring began with 10 minutes left in the 1st quarter when Lyford scored on a 67-yard rushing play. Point after was good and the score was Lyford 7, Jourdanton 0.

Three minutes remained in the 1st period when Indian RB Jemareon Moore plunged in for a score from 5 yards out. Jared Meyer’s extra point was good and the game was tied, 7-7.

With two minutes to go in the 1st quarter, Lyford scored again on a 59-yard pass play. Point after was good and Lyford led, 14-7.

One minute into the 2nd quarter, Meyer kicked a field goal and Lyford led, 14-10.

Eight minutes remained in the 2nd period when Lyford passed for a TD and with point after good, led, 21-10.

Jourdanton scored with five minutes left in the 2nd period when JHS RB Moore scored his 2nd touchdown on a 12-yard run and after a 2-point completion to JHS tight end Will Soward, the score was, Lyford 21, Jourdanton 18.

Lyford scored on a pass play with nine minutes left in the 3rd period and with point after, Lyford led, 28-18.,

Two minutes were left in the 3rd period when the Indians scored on a 2-yard plunge by JHS QB Raymond Ruiz. Meyer’s point after was good and score was, Lyford 28, Jourdanton 25.

One minute into the 4th period, Lyford scored on a pass play and with point after, the score was LHS Bulldogs 35, JHS 25.

Lyford scored again with nine minutes left in the 4th quarter and with point after, led, 42-25, for the final scoring of the game.

Stats for the game: Jourdanton QB Raymond Ruiz went 2 for 8 for 35 yards, with 2 interceptions.

Raymond Ruiz rushed 21 times for 96 yards and 1 touchdown; Jemareon Moore – 15 rushes for 72 yards and 2 touchdowns; William Locke – 12 rushes for 57 yards; Casey Fuentes – 6 carries for 34 yards.

Will Soward had 2 receptions for 35 yards.
