Jourdanton council moves to hire Schulz as city manager

Goetzel votes against

Before voting on hiring the new City Manager during the Jourdanton City Council meeting on June 18, councilman Chester Gonzales expressed his gratitude for all those that applied, saying that it was a very tough decision, but he was excited to work with the new manager. Karen Pesek added that there were very qualified applicants and she was surprised how many wanted to come down to the area. Raul “Roy” Morales stated that they could not have come up with a better group of applicants and they all came down to talk with the Council. Mayor Robert “Doc” Williams summed it up by saying he’d be happy to work with any of them and he thanked Eric Kaiser for stepping in as Interim City Manager. Gonzales moved to hire Otto Lamar Schulz from New Braunfels. Jack Harrison seconded. All voted affirmative except Johnetta “Johnnie” Goetzel, who voted a firm no.
