John Lytle Tom III, age 49, went to be with the Lord on November 9, 2011. He was born November 7, 1962 in Victoria to Roxana Proctor Tom and John Lytle Tom, Jr. He is preceded in death by his father, John Lytle Tom Jr.; paternal grandparents, John Lytle Tom, Sr. and Ethel Shaw Tom; Frederick Cocke Proctor and Roxana Barclay Proctor. He graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1981 and from Texas A&M University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics. He was the fifth generation of the Tom family to manage his family’s ranch, which he did until 2003. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Nancy Kay Wittler Tom of Campbellton; a daughter, Ellen Kay Tom of Campbellton; a son, Jonathan Barclay Tom of Lexington Park, Maryland; mother, Roxana Proctor Tom of Campbellton; sister, Nancy Tom of San Antonio; sister Roxana Tom of San Antonio; brother, Philip Anthony Tom II and wife Jessica White Tom of Campbellton. Lytle is also survived by many loving sisters-in-law, brothersin law, nieces, nephews and great-nieces. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Texas Junior Simmental Simbrah Scholarship Fund. The TJSSA is a youth organization that is special to Lytle and his family. Visitation was held at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton from 2 – 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, November 13, 2011. Funeral service was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Campbellton at 11 a.m. Monday, November 14, 2011. Interment followed at Campbellton City Cemetery.
