John Gilbert Scaramozi of Pleasanton passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018, at the age of 75.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dominic and Eileen (Howell) Scaramozi and brother, Dominic Anthony Scaramozi III.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Virginia (Dufner) Scaramozi; sons, Michael and John Scaramozi; grandson, Daniel Anthony Scaramozi; brother, James Robert Scaramozi and sisters, Mary Ann Trautman and Judy Swoboda.

John graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1960. After graduation, being a highly motivated individual, John achieved the following; Branch Manager, Computer Programmer and Systems Analyst for San Antonio Savings Association; Supervisory Examiner for the Texas Savings and Loan Department, President and CEO of Atascosa Savings Association in Jourdanton; Mayor of Jourdanton, Executive Vice President and Division Manager for the Divisions of Mergers and Acquisitions at San Antonio Savings Association, Chairman and CEO for First Federal Savings Bank, President and CEO Mid- Coast Savings and Loan Association and lastly a Financial Services Consultant.

John had a passion for horse racing and golf, which led him to owning racehorses and playing numerous golf tournaments. He also enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing with family and friends. He was proud of his grandson and loved every moment he spent with him. He will be greatly missed.

A rosary will be recited at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Pleasanton on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 9 a.m., followed by a mass celebrated at 10:30 a.m.

The family asks in lieu of flowers donations be made to St. Andrew Catholic Church.
