Jodie Brooks

Jodie Roberta Brooks, born December 1, 1931, passed away March 22, 2018 in Medina County, Texas at the age of 86 years 3 months and 21 days.  Jodie grew up in the Black Creek area of Devine, Texas.  She spent the first years of her life raising her three daughters, enjoying her grandchildren and in her later years enjoying her great-grandchildren.  After the girls got older she ventured out and helped with elections as well as a substitute mail carrier of which she enjoyed until she retired.  She enjoyed going to her small church in her community.  She was a founding member of the Rossville Community Center and helped with the fundraisers that helped the community.

Jodie is preceded in death by her husband Tweet Brooks, parents William H. H. and Georgia Dubose, brothers Clyde, Marcos and Arthur and Roy Dubose, as well as many half brothers and sisters

She is survived by daughters Lynn Rankin and husband Ronnie of Poteet, Dian Asbury and husband Larry of Victoria and Brenda Tomblin and husband Tobey of Poteet; sister Vida B. Kempf of Black Creek and one brother Darrell W. Dubose  and wife Evelyn of Devine; sister-in- law Essie Dubose of Devine; brother-in-law Vernon Mitchell of Dallas.  She is also survived by her grandchildren Stephanie Scharmann, Dale Rankin and wife Marla, Tanya Hathorn and husband Cody, Debra Nixon and husband Russell, Larry Wade Asbury and wife Erica, Crystal Weber and husband Shawn, T.P. Brooks Asbury and wife Tanya, Stacie Tomblin, Lena Evans and husband Jaime, Brittany Tomblin and Tobey Tomblin, III and 19 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Monday March 26, 2018 from 9 -10 a.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel in Pleasanton.  Funeral services were Monday, March 26 at 10 a.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel in Pleasanton.  Interment followed at the Anchorage Cemetery in Rossville.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Sandbranch Baptist Church or the Rossville Community Center.
