JISD board approves salary increase for all employees

Jourdanton ISD President Barbara Peeler opened an agenda item with the comment, “This is so exciting.” The board went on to approve a welldeserved salary increase for all employees during Monday night’s meeting.

All staff, including teachers, will receive a seven percent raise. There will also be adjustments to the teachers’ pay scale in the one to five years and the 26 to 30 years.

Superintendent Theresa McAllister commended the board on giving such good recommendations for the increase and knew the staff would be very appreciative.

Peeler admitted that there have been several raises before, but this is one of the biggest raises overall that they have done in a long while. She thanked McAllister and Business Manager Angie Balaszi for working so hard and doing such a good job, because this is not an easy task.

Motion to approve the item was made by Celia Chapa and seconded by Rita Munoz. The motion passed unanimously, with Phillip Netardus also voting for. Absent from the meeting were Richard Walker, Vance Jupe and Gregory Vyvlecka.
