Jimmie Dell Mikolajczyk, age 87, of Poteet, passed away Friday, December 2, 2016. She was born to J.T. and Martha (Paul) Boothe. A highly-respected teacher of 32 years, she was also an Atascosa County Commissioner, and a life- long resident of the Poteet, Texas area. She first taught at the Tank Hollow School near Poteet, where she met Emmett Mikolajczyk, later marrying him. A full and rewarding life followed, raising their eight children, farming, and teaching. After the loss of Emmett in 1993, she married W.J. Lawson of Poteet and continued the love for her family and fishing along the Texas coast.
She is survived by her husband William Jennings Lawson, sons Emmett Mikolajczyk, Jr., and wife Marcy, Lawrence Mikolajczyk and wife Kathy, Lyle Mikolajczyk and wife Carlene, Leslie Mikolajczyk and wife Kimberly, and Kyle Mikolajczyk and wife Laura, daughters Nancy Howard and husband Rusty, Janice Gieber and husband Dave and Martha Tondre and husband Steve, brother Sammy Boothe and wife Eva Rae,sister Bobbie Swaim and husband Rodney, Jimmie is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 16 great-granchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Emmitt Mikolajczyk and her parents J.T. and Martha Opelia (Paul) Boothe.
Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home Chapel in Pleasanton from 2 – 9 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2016. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church at 10 a.m., Friday, December 9, 2016. Interment will follow in St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery #2, Pleasanton.
