The Jourdanton Business Law class recently took a field trip to the Bexar County Courthouse in San Antonio on Friday, April 1, to experience an actual “Criminal Case.” Twentyeight students learned the differences between Civil and Criminal court.
This trip gave students a first-hand experience with the judicial system. The students were able to observe a trial, testimony and closing arguments, which allows them to experience a real world setting and connect that with classroom learning.
Jourdanton High School started this Business Law class, the second semester in January 2016 as a pilot program. The program has generated overwhelming interest among the students and is anticipated as an ongoing course for the 2016-2017 school year. This course is taught by Patti Drummer, who joined the faculty at Jourdanton High School in the fall of 2015.
