Jessy William Quinney, age 85, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017.
He was born July 7, 1932 to William Eli and Nettie Mae Quinney in Stockdale. He was a person who loved God, his family, and his country wholeheartedly. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He’d also enjoyed water skiing when he was a younger man. He helped shape numerous lives as a little league baseball coach and taught countless kids to water ski. An oilfield operator and mechanic, he retired after 33 years with Schlumberger. After his retirement, he loved helping anybody with small engine repair, such as lawnmowers.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Jessy will be deeply and sincerely missed by not only his family, but by the many people whose lives he touched with his thoughtfulness and generosity.
Jessy was preceded in death by his parents, a baby sister, Mary Louise Quinney, siblings, Ira Quinney, Viola Martin, J.O. Quinney, Hazel Short, Tommy Quinney, and Carolyn Jerrell.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 59 years, Aline Quinney of Alice; his son, Michael (Kim Pipes) Quinney of Bellville; two grandchildren, Jacie Kay Quinney and Jesse Kolton Quinney both of Bellville; two sisters, Pearl Jones and Adel Mcleroy of Brownfield, and two brothers, Roy (Carolyn) Quinney of Gurdon, Arkansas and Ernest (Linda) Quinney of Delight, Arkansas.
Family received friends from 5 – 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8 at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel in Alice. Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel in Alice with Pastor David Kimberly officiating. Interment followed at Roselawn Memorial Park in Alice.
