Jesse Esquivel, age 90, of Christine passed away in Jourdanton on Tuesday, August 4, 2020. He was born in Christine to Emilio and Tomasita (Vidaurri) Esquivel Sr. on Wednesday, December 25, 1929.
Jesse was a man of many talents. During the early 1950s he was hired by a construction company to assist with Jourdanton’s new public school. After its completion Jesse was hired to stay on and fill a position in the maintenance department, which he would later oversee. His valuable 42-year tenure for the district was a real savings because his knowledge of electrical and plumbing was an asset. He loved ranching and knew everything about cattle and their constant upkeep. The farming talent was an asset because come spring and fall he was plowing the fields for his agricultural needs.
Jesse is survived by his wife, Ricarda Esquivel; daughter, Olga Esquivel; sons, Richard Esquivel, and Murry Esquivel and wife Velia; daughter-in-law, Josie Esquivel; and brother, Ray Esquivel. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brandon Esquivel and wife Morgan, Ricky Ortiz, Mindy Esquivel, and Kimberlee Esquivel; great-grandchildren, Kamryn Esquivel and Hendrix Esquivel, and countless, nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.
Jesse was preceded in death by his parents; son Robert Esquivel; brothers, Calistro Esquivel Sr., Emilio Esquivel Jr., George Esquivel and Jose Esquivel, and sisters, Josephine E. Martinez, Esther E. Pacheco, Otila E. Contreras, Adela E. Villarreal, Caroline E. Casas and Diamantina E. Pacheco.
