… it RAINED!!!
I’m not sure if I missed it, but weren’t we supposed to have a 60 percent chance of rain on Monday? I’m not going to complain too much, since it did rain on Tuesday.
I do understand that the percentage that is mentioned in weather forecasts is based on the actual viewing/listening area. Plus, I found out about this today.
There is math thing called PoP or Probability of Precipitation. The other factors are the confidence that rain will occur and the area where it could happen. The formula is PoP = C x A or Probability = Confidence x Area.
PoP is the chance of rain at any point over an area, according to the National Weather Service.
Confused? Yeah, me too. But it does make sense when we get a deluge in town and I have nary a drop at my home.
I must admit that I did get sprinkled on Monday afternoon and the clouds looked ominous but it soon gave way to sunshine and the air was heavy with humidity
The way I see it, hoping we do see some good rains soon. We certainly need it – as we were just placed under a burn ban for Atascosa County last week. Think rain … but not a hurricane!
