Inelda Tuttle peacefully passed in her sleep on the morning of Sunday, November 17, 2019 at 101 years old.
Born Inelda Yow on November 22, 1917, she grew up in Amphion along with her parents Henry and Susie Yow and six siblings.
Everyone that knew Inelda recognized how strong she was, and those traits were with her at even a young age. In her early years, she walked five miles each way to school in Jourdanton with her older brother. She later graduated from Poteet High School in 1936. She met Eldon Tuttle in Poteet and they soon married on July 16, 1943. On their one year anniversary the following year, they purchased a home in Poteet that Inelda lived in the rest of her life. The family business, Tuttle Motor Company, which was established in 1933, became an important part of her life where she met many friends and worked every day until she was 99. Inelda was an icon in Poteet and the surrounding areas and was loved by many. She was called “Mrs. T” by coworkers and friends alike.
Inelda is survived by her two sons and daughtersin law, Eldon Jr. and Caron Tuttle and Dana and Rhonda Tuttle; two granddaughters and husbands, Lauren and Michael Quincey and Erinn and Evan Walker; one grandson and wife, Chris and Christy Andrew, greatgrandson Samuel Walker; great-granddaughter, Kylie Andrew with a second great-grandson on the way. Inelda is also survived by her sister, Joan Scogin; and brother, Raylon Yow, and many nieces and nephews. The service will be held Friday, November 22 at 2 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Chapel in Pleasanton. Visitation will be before the service from 12-2 p.m. Interment to follow at the Rutledge Cemetery.
