Hunter’s fight ends

Hunter Matthew Galloway, 16-month-old son of Pleasanton ISD Chief Willie and Crystal Galloway, has lost his battle with a rare form of childhood cancer. He passed away in the early hours on Friday, February 27. Services were held Monday, March 2 at Hurley Funeral Home.

Hunter had been in a San Antonio hospital for the past few months. A fundraiser “Hoops for Hunter” will still happen to help with the expenses the family has incurred.

“We need to get the word out that the Hunter for Hoops event is still taking place,” said Kelsie Lozano, event organizer. “Some people think that it has been cancelled.”

She and husband EJ Lozano are family friends of the Galloways.

The Hoops for Hunter Tournament will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Pleasanton

Sports Complex, near the Performing Arts Center at Pleasanton High School.

There is still room for four more teams to sign up for the tournament. The entry fee is $250 per team. Please note that the deadline to sign up and pay the fee is March 7. To register, please contact EJ or Kelsie Lozano at 210- 529-0514.

Several local businesses have already donated prizes for the raffle drawing.

You can follow “Hunter’s Journey The Fight Continues” and “Hoops for Hunter” on Facebook.

The basketball tournament, bake sale and auction will be held on Saturday, March 21.
