Jourdanton City Council members and city officials as well as residents recognized the Jourdanton softball team during Monday’s city council meeting.

The Squaws finished their 2023 campaign with a 29-7-1 overall record including an 8-0 record in district for their second consecutive title.

All players and coaches were presented with a certificate from council member Karen Pesek.

En route to the school’s second appearance in the regional championship, Jourdanton knocked off Hondo, Yoakum, Columbus and Lyford before falling to eventual state runner-up Santa Gertrudis Academy. It was the second season under head coach Ruth Mitchell, who has recorded nearly 60 wins in her tenure and was recently recognized at the South Texas Coaches Association (STCA) as Female Coach of the Year.
