A high-speed chase this afternoon through Pleasanton came to a fiery halt when the suspect, Dylan Plemons, drove into a field off Humble Camp Road and crashed into a mesquite tree. Plemons, 24, is wanted out of Burnett County for an offense of alleged Aggravated Kidnapping with a Deadly Weapon.

Officer Smitty Gonzales of the Pleasanton Police Department initially attempted a traffic stop with a green Nissan Armada driven by Plemons who failed to comply and continued driving at a high rate of speed out of the city limits and into Atascosa County. The pursuit eventually entered back into Pleasanton where Plemons drove recklessly through Pleasanton River Park. During the pursuit, Plemons also intentionally struck a Pleasanton Police Department patrol vehicle. Plemons drove off road along Humble Camp Road and crashed into a mesquite tree where his vehicle caught. Plemons was caught after a short foot chase by law enforcement officers.

Plemons will face charges of alleged Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon against a Peace Officer, Evading with Motor Vehicles and Tampering with Physical Evidence. The investigation is still in the preliminary stages and other charges could be pending.

“A very dangerous felon was removed from society today because of the combined efforts of some very brave law enforcement officers,” said Pleasanton Police Chief Ronald Sanchez. “The Pleasanton Police Department would like to thank everyone who assisted in this pursuit and arrest today.”

The Pleasanton Police Department was assisted by the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol, Jourdanton Police Department, Atascosa County Constable Precinct 4, Atascosa County Fire Marshals Office and the District Attorney’s K-9 Unit.
