The Pleasanton High School Chapter of Business Professionals of America (BPA) is gearing up for national competition in Anaheim, CA on May 1-5. This year, Pleasanton is sending eight students along with their advisor to the National competition and is in need of sponsorships.
Donations are being accepted to cover travel expenses for this event, which includes transportation, room, registration fees and meal money. The club’s goal is to raise $10,000 by this Friday, April 19.
Students from PISD that are advancing are Dylan Acuff, Shelby Henson, Mackenzie Pilgrim, Justin Rangel, Madeleine Guajardo, Ann Levchyk and Alaina Dickson.
Pilgrim broke the record in being the first PISD student to qualify for Nationals in two different events. Dickson, Guajardo and Olivarri earned the Statesman Torch Award recognizing their service to their school, community, and personal development.
Olivarri earned the Statesman of the Year Award for Region 2 for having the most Torch Award points in the San Antonio Area and was elected by the Texas delegation as the State Parliamentarian for the Texas Association of Business Professionals of America. She will represent BPA on the State Officer Team from March 2019 through March 2020.
