HELEN BRYAN



 

 

Helen Mary Bryan went to be with the Lord on November 28, 2015. Helen was born July 3, 1921, in Runge to Dobroslav and Petronila Zezula.

She was the third of seven children. She was raised on a farm north of Runge and graduated from Runge High School in 1939. That same year, she moved to Poteet and became a nurse. She met Guy Bryan and they were married in 1941. They moved to his farm north of Poteet and raised four children together. Helen lived on the farm for 72 years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, raising chickens and cattle, and enjoyed her grandchildren and pets. She was a member of St. Phillip Benizi Catholic Church in Poteet.

Helen is survived by: her sister Mary Weiss, her sons, Vernon Bryan and his wife Yolanda, and Mark Bryan and his wife Arlene, her two daughters, Doris Payne and her husband Daylon, and Linda Tausch, eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and three greatgreat grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by: her husband of 39 years Guy Bryan, her brother Jerry Zezula, her sisters Edith Vanta, Geneva Zezula, Leona Janysek, and Hedy Prokop, her granddaughter Leslie Bryan, and her sonin law Smith Tausch, Jr.

Visitation was held at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton, December 1 from 2 – 8 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church, 274 Avenue H in Poteet. Interment will follow at St. Matthew Catholic Cemetery in Jourdanton.
