The 10th Annual Healthy Woman’s Gala is fast approaching and it promises to be a great ladies night out. This year the gala will be held at the Pleasanton Civic Center Thursday, April 23rd from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event is for women and gives ladies a chance for a fun night out.
The event is larger than last year since it is being hosted in a bigger venue. There are still limited number of tickets available for sale. To purchase tickets contact Tiffiney Willmon at 936-223-2527 or stop by the Pleasanton Express Office at 114 Goodwin across the street from City Hall.
The event will host casino tables, door prizes, wonderful catering by Fresh Horizons and cocktails. The event will also feature guest speaker Abby Rike.
Rike is a loyal, hard-working, lover of life. Rike was living the life she delighted in: two wonderful children; a loving husband; a job she excelled in. It all added up to one indisputable fact: Rike considered herself one blessed woman! Then one horrific evening in 2006, the life she knew and loved ended abruptly when her husband and two young children were killed in a car crash.
But in May of 2009, deciding there was more living to do in this life, Rike embarked on a very public journey of healing and wellness when she went on Season 8 of the NBC hit reality series “The Biggest Loser.” But many of you may not know she was an educator before she was a “Loser.” She worked as a high school theater and debate teacher for 13 years, inspiring students to achieve their personal best, inspiring them before she inspired us!
Having appeared on the Today Show, the Ellen Show and Jay Leno, and spoken to thousands all across America…….. it’s her faith and her family she honors. Rike feels blessed to have had the opportunity to realize God’s grace full circle and feels compelled to share with others what she experienced firsthand. She continues her healthy lifestyle and vigor for life and is a living example that even in your darkest hour, there is always hope. The hope she shares in her book, “Working It Out, A Journey of Love, Loss, and Hope.”
Rike will be autographing books at the event. The book and the autograph will be $20 and only cash will be accepted.
The theme of the gala is Belle Of The Ball. “We want ladies to dress up and feel good about themselves, formal attire is not required for the event, come feel pretty and have a great time,” said Tiffiney Willmon Marketing Director for South Texas Regional Medical Center.
South Texas Regional Medical Center along with its many sponsors are hosting the gala. The Healthy Woman program is an online information resource for women who generally direct the health needs of the entire family in addition to themselves. The program provides relevant health information to members and reinforces that with the health related events throughout the year.
