The growth of the $2 billion food truck phenomenon has grown 300 percent in the last three years. To date, it is virtually non-existent in Atascosa County unless you are selling raspas, but not this Saturday! The Hayden Homestead Company food truck with its fresh, delicious homemade goods is making a stop in Pleasanton Saturday, Jan. 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Gypsy Moon Market parking lot, 107 S. Reed St.
Country Western singer Rodney Hayden and his wife, Shenna, are excited to be bring their brand home to Pleasanton. Rodney is a 1998 Pleasanton High School graduate and Shenna graduated from Jourdanton High School in 2001.
For the Saturday event, the food truck menu will feature:
Original Chicken Slidertwo thin-cut fried chicken breasts on a sweet roll with our house made “Everything Sauce” and pickles with fries for $10.
BBQ Chicken Slidersame as above but dipped in Texas Water BBQ sauce, with fries $10.
Schnitzel Stick- traditional German fried pork chop the way grandma made them but it’s Texas and this is a food truck so the Hayden’s put it on a stick. Served with a lemon wedge, a pickle served with fries for $6.
Nanny’s Chicken and Dumplings- home style creamy chicken and dumplings. A perfect January post-holiday lunch for a great price of $5.
Fried Pies- Shenna’s amazing pie crust filled with creamy coconut, lemon or apple. Deep fried and glazed for just $2.
Sasquatch Cookies- iced sugar cookies for $1.
Kolaches- A traditional Czech recipe- enjoy these peach, strawberry, poppyseed or cream cheese for $2 each.
