Hanley Glenn Burris passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018 in Jourdanton. He was born July 9, 1949 to John H. and Thelma (Ratcliff) Burris in Pearsall.
Hanley graduated from Pearsall High School in 1967. He played basketball at SAC and attended both Southwest Texas State University and the University of Texas. Hanley worked for the State of Texas for over 30 years, first for the Department of Human Resources and later for the Child Support Division of the Attorney General’s office.
Hanley coached Little League baseball for many years. He retired to spend more of his time at his ranchito, taking care of his cows, watching wildlife and feeding his fish. He took his grandkids fishing, target shooting, deer, turkey,and dove hunting with his German Shorthaired Pointer. He also found time to take other kids fishing.
Hanley is survived by his loving wife Linda L. Burris of Jourdanton, daughter Shari Burris Taake and husband Warren of Bellville, son Brant Burris and wife Polly of San Antonio, grandchildren Hannah, Nathan and Jonah Taake, and Jeff and Ty Burris, brother Jerry Burris, and sisters Linda Royal, Kathy Stone and Gail Stewart. He was preceded in death by his parents Thelma and John Burris, and his brother Harold Burris.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Jourdanton United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to the Jourdanton United Methodist Church.
