Gov. Abbott puts Texas back to work May 1Free Access

Gov. Abbott announced at his press conference today, April 27, that retail stores, restaurants, movies and malls across Texas would be permitted to operate starting May 1.

These businesses will be required to maintain a maximum of 25% occupancy. Museums and libraries will also be able to reopen, given they follow the 25% occupancy rules and do not reopen interactive features. The Governor stated that this plan was designed to safely and strategically open Texas while minimizing the spread of COVID-19. Gov. Abbott said he hopes to open businesses like gyms, bars and salons by mid-May but they will remain closed for now.
