Glenda A. Brister, 75, of Poteet passed away in San Antonio on Friday, December 18, 2020. She was born in Crystal City on September 30, 1946, to Harry G. Ivy and Ethel A. (Jones) Ivy.
Glenda married Roger Brister on April 6, 1966, in Pearsall. She graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1983. She always dreamed of being a nurse and her goal was to care for the elderly in long-term care. She worked for Retama North and Retama South for over 25 years. She loved her residents and families like they were family. She received several plaques of recognition over the years. She also loved cooking and baking and sharing her treats at the nursing home where she worked.
Glenda was survived by her loving husband, Roger, whom passed just a day later. She is survived by her daughters, Ronda (David) Brunner of Poteet, Christina (Billey) Mc- Clellan of Moore and Bonny Edwards and significant other David Shoemake of Poteet; sister, Peggy I. Jenkins of Poteet; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry G. and Ethel A. Ivy; and her sister, Darlene Vega of Dilley.
A memorial service will be at Rutledge Cemetery in Poteet on January 15 at 11 a.m.
