Gertrude Tausch
Haverlah, age 96, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 28, 2016
surrounded by family, at her home in Campbellton, Texas. She was born on
June 7, 1919 in Floresville, Texas to Walter and Ellen Campbell-Tausch.
She grew up in Campbellton and graduated from Jourdanton High School.

She
married Harry Leo Haverlah on June 8, 1937.   She and Harry raised
their 5 children in Campbellton and dedicated their lives to family,
ranching and farming. During the 1950s, Texas suffered a devastating
drought, causing Harry and Gertrude to discover another form of income
to support their family: running the Tausch Café, in Campbellton. After
the drought, they resumed cattle ranching. Gertrude was a devout
parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She loved attending mass,
reading, crocheting, gardening, fishing and being an active part of
cattle ranching.   When she wasn’t at church or working outdoors you
would find her on her front porch reading the daily newspaper and
completing crossword puzzles. After the death of her husband, she
remained actively involved in helping to manage the cattle on her
homeplace.

Gertrude
was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ellen Campbell-
Tausch; her husband of 54 years, Harry Haverlah; her brother, Carlos
