Geneva Hernandez Gomez, age 86, of Rossville, reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Thursday, January 16, 2020 in Jourdanton. She was born in Saragosa to Miguel and Angelita (Paz) Hernandez on December 29, 1933.
Geneva is survived by her daughter, Debbie Gomez Molina (David); sons, Jose Gomez Jr., Albert Gomez (Rosemary), and Abel Gomez (Jo Ann); and grandchildren, Israel Gomez, Jason Gomez (Scott), Larry Gomez (Irma), Lynzy Renteria (Roy), Azalea Gomez, Jose Angel Gomez (Sabrina), Jimmy Joe Molina (Danielle), Genilee Molina (Ricky), and Angelica Molina. She is also survived by her eight great-grandchildren; sistersin law, Eva Hernandez, Elisa Hernandez, brother-in -law, Frank Navarrete and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents Miguel and Angelita Paz Hernandez; husband of 63 years, Joe O. Gomez; son, Israel Gomez; sisters, Eulalia Aldaz (Felipe), Ysabel Arenibaz (Porfedio), Anita Roman (Arturo), Delfina Gomez (Juan), Rebecca Sanchez (Chale), Andrea Garza (Domingo), Severa Navarrete; brothers, Felipe Hernandez (Juanita), Epifanio Hernandez, Miguel Hernandez, and Jimmy Hernandez.
Geneva, husband and children moved to Rossville in 1972, from Saragosa. They both managed a peach orchard for her husband’s long time boss, Frank Crews, who owned numerous farm land in West Texas. Thereafter, she and husband Joe, built and owned “Joe’s Country Store” in Rossville in 1986. Both enjoyed retirement in 2011. Geneva loved to cook, bake, and plant flowers. Her home is beautifully landscaped and numerous flowers and plants surround the home. She was a lovely lady and touched so many people. She will be missed dearly.
Visitation will be conducted at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton on Thursday, January 23 from 2-9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass to be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church in Somerset on Friday, January 24 at 10 a.m. followed by interment at First Memorial Park in Von Ormy.
