Gary Bacon Jr.

Gary “Bubba” Grant Bacon Jr. passed on to his eternal life on February 22, 2018 at the young age of 53. Bubba was born on March 9, 1964 in San Antonio, Texas to his loving parents, Gary and Barbara Bacon.

Bubba attended school in Cotulla and graduated from Somerset High School in 1982. Soon after graduating, he began working at the Bacon’s family business, Air-Tex Air Conditioning and Heating, where his father taught him the skills and knowledge of a successful businessman. Bubba eventually took all his parents lovingly instilled in him and started his own air conditioning business servicing the Devine area and just like his daddy had done, Bubba’s own son, Josh, proudly worked alongside his father learning the family business and forming another father and son team. Josh moved in with his dad and looked to him for business advice and guidance, just as Bubba did with his dad. Bubba was blessed with two loving children, Bailee Rae and Joshua Grant. He was a kind, caring, and protective dad who loved his children dearly. He was his children’s biggest protector and was well known for spoiling his babies rotten. His children were the light of his life. His two biggest moments in life came near the end of his life: First, walking his beautiful daughter, Bailee, down the aisle as she married the love of her life Matthew Hoover. Also, the day his son, Josh, chose to become his business partner, work beside him, and follow in his footsteps.

Bubba’s life was centered around his family and family events that were full of joy and always entertaining. As young children Bubba’s momma would have him wear a big cowboy hat and play a guitar while his sister, Lisa, sang. Eventually, Bubba was allowed to hang the guitar up but his fellow band member, his sister, Lisa stayed a constant force in his life. Bubba loved and respected both his sister and brother-in-law Rodney who he could always depend on. Holidays and family gatherings will never be the same without Bubba there. A chair will always be empty without our Bubba.

His longtime girlfriend, Wendy Lowry, was a wonderful Christian woman who Bubba loved deeply. He and his family felt that she was an angel sent from Heaven. They both adored their dog, Chewy, who Bubba looked to as a loyal and faithful companion.

Bubba was a kind, soft hearted man who loved to make people laugh. He was a simple man that didn’t care about material things and cherished the simple things in life. Bubba was an amazing son, father, uncle, brother, cousin, boyfriend, and friend. And above all, he was a son of God.
