Fugitive arrested following chase

Atascosa County Sheriff’s Deputies and Texas DPS Troopers were involved in a chase Monday afternoon which led to the arrest of a wanted fugitive, according to Sheriff David Soward. A radio broadcast was put out Monday afternoon that the fugitive may be northbound on IH 37 coming out of Live Oak County. DPS Trooper Joseph Lopez spotted the tan Chevrolet Silverado pickup which was the subject of the all points bulletin. When the Trooper attempted to stop the truck, the driver fled and refused to stop. Atascosa County sheriff’s deputies joined the pursuit and it went into Bexar County and turned on to Loop 1604. The truck stopped and the driver and front seat passenger were taken into custody. The passenger was identified as Dustin Leigh Santino, age 39. Santino was wanted out of the state of Oregon for Aggravated Theft. The driver was arrested for Evading Arrest with a Vehicle and identified as Ryan Simoncelli, age 18 of Schertz, Texas. Both were booked into the Atascosa County Jail. The truck contained motorcycles in the bed that had the VIN altered and are suspected of being stolen.
