Mr. Frank “Judge” Garza Leal of Pleasanton passed away, February 18, 2020, at the age of 78. He was born in McCoy on April 14, 1941, to Felipe Ximenez and Guadalupe (Garza) Leal.
Frank worked as an Atascosa Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1 for over 30 years, and was proud to serve his community. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Frank also loved the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Cowboys. He also loved hunting and fishing. Before becoming Justice of the Peace for Precinct 1, he worked as a deputy with the Atascosa Sheriff’s Office and as an officer with the Poteet Police Department.
Frank is survived by his wife, Olivia C. Leal; son, Rick Leal and wife Jenni; daughter, Eleanor Alfrido and husband Frank; brothers, Antonio Leal and wife Rosario and Joe Leal and wife Delia, and his sister Felis L. Segundo. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kayla Gutierrez and husband Ozzie, Ryan Leal, Aleia Leal and Qeana Gunter and husband Robert; and great-grandchild, Dayne D’Ambria; cherished family members Ricky and Deedee Lopez, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Felipe and Guadalupe Leal; brother, Esteban Leal; and brother-inlaw, Calletano Segundo.
Visitation was conducted at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton on Sunday, February 23, from 3-9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Pleasanton on Monday, February 24, at 10 a.m. Services will conclude at that time. Pallbearers for Frank’s service were Ricky Lopez, Ozzie Gutierrez, Jimmy Garza, Adolph Leal, Jesse Velasquez and Marco Leal. Honorary pallbearers are Ryan Leal and Felipe Leal.
