Frances Jean Couser Ehlinger passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at the age of 82. Frances was born on August 2, 1939, to her parents, Lynn and Nellie Couser, in Kyote.
Frances had previously resided in multiple cities, including: Kyote, McAllen, Alamo, Devine and Pleasanton. Frances was married to her husband, Melvin Ehlinger of 61 years on May 29, 1960; and together had three children and nine grandchildren. Frances enjoyed working with numbers and used her skills in her adult life by flourishing in her career within financial institutions and banking services. Later in her life, she spent her time sewing clothing, shopping, volunteering, visiting friends and neighbors, and was a devoted member of the Alamo Country Club and the Red Hat Ladies. Frances loved decorating for the holidays, baking in the kitchen, hosting/planning events, craft shows, gardening and being around her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lynn and Nellie Couser; her sister, Shirley Couser Ehlinger; and her son-in-law, Bill Cowgill.
Frances is survived by her husband, Melvin Ehlinger of McAllen; daughter and sonin law Rhonda and Michael Wright of Kingsville; son and daughter-in-law Barry and Sandra Ehlinger of McAllen; daughter and sonin law Lisa and Curt Kelley of McKinney; her sisters, June Couser Thompson and Faye Couser Smith, both of Pleasanton. Frances is also survived by nine grandchildren: Mackenzie Cowgill, Madisyn Cowgill, Baylee Ehlinger (Kathryn), Callie Ehlinger, Grant Ehlinger, Taylor Ehlinger, Garrett Kelley (Haley), Sarah Kelley and Caroline Kelley.
Frances Jean Ehlinger was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, grandmother and friend. She will be immensely missed by all who knew her.
A funeral service to honor the life of Frances was held on Friday, October 8, at Hurley Funeral Home located at 118 W. Oaklawn Rd. in Pleasanton. The services will begin at 11 a.m.
