Deputy Tharp returns after Iraq combat – Deputy Chris Tharp, although recuperating from injuries he received in Iraq, has returned to duty with Atascosa County Sheriff’s Department. Most of the time the deputy patrols the northwest part of the county.

ICA mascot – This good-looking longhorn steer was sold several times at last year’s Texas ICA calf sale, and given back to the ICA after each transaction. The steer has been chosen as the state mascot for the ICA and will be at Saturday’s sale in Pleasanton. Roy wheeler, ICA president said a prize of $100 Will go to the person whose name for the steer is adopted at this year’s sale.

Band sweetheart –  Miss Sherri Gallagher, pretty and petite majorette, was presented as the Eagle Band Sweetheart, Friday night at Eagles stadium. Here she receives a corsage from Butch Tausch representing the band members.
