Cactus Garden Restaurant won the Showmanship Award during the 20th Taste of Atascosa sponsored by the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce. The Fiesta themed event had all competitors in their brightest colors. Scott Bomar clears 12-feet, six inches and goes on to win the pole vault at the District 29-4A meet in Floresville after clearing 13 feet.

Pleasanton’s Kathy Ottinger (center) surprised a strong field in the 200-meter race and finished second in a time of 27.15 in the district track meet Saturday at Pleasanton. Marivel Villareal of Beeville (right) won the race in 27.08.

Pleasanton’s mile relay team is all set to compete in Saturday’s regional after finishing first in the event at the district meet last week. The Eagles burned the track in a time of 3.25.27. Left to right are Gerald Trevino, Mike Greene, Billy Martinez and Shane Gregorczyk.
Pleasanton Go-Getters share the proceeds from their annual Rabies Clinic with Pleasanton EMS, 4-H, and fire department. Butch Roberson of Tri-County Co-Op of Devine and J. B. Moseley of Standard Butane Co., Poteet, are pictured with Strawberry Queen Tricia Schumacher and six year old Joseph Granato who grew the Grand Champion Strawberries, shown at the 32nd Annual Strawberry Festival. Mr. Roberson and Mr. Moseley paid $1,100 for the berries.
Pleasanton was the only school in District 13AAA to land two players on the All-District golf team. Pictured are John Freeman and Kevin Farrer with the trophies they brought from the district meet held in Seguin.

Gary Richter, PHS Junior, is in his second season as an Eagle second sacker and he’s one of the key factors in the winning season being enjoyed by the Eagles. He’s a solid performer afield and at bat.

Roger Schievelbein, PHS star half-miler, hits the tape to win the district 880-yard dash in the recent 28AA meet at Floresville. He was clocked at 2.08.2 ahead of Karnes City’s Serenil (outside left), Ray Jasik, diminutive Eagle, finished third.
